My husband and I hired Git-R-Smoked for our wedding day, and had a mixed experience. Positives first - the food was fantastic, the price is exceptional, and I am forever grateful that Kevin and his team still showed up despite the unexpected snowstorm! Unfortunately, we did run into a few speed bumps along the way, however. For starters, the contract process was far from straight forward (make copies!) and communication was often hit and miss. Then, on wedding day we received appetizer trays that we had canceled a couple weeks prior ( I'm not certain we paid extra for this) and did not receive bussing service that I know we did pay extra for. While the meal was delicious, I'm not sure I would recommend Git-R-Smoked to other couples.

Tried Moonshine BBQ at the Nugget Rib Cookoff. Ribs and sauce were great. I wasn't impressed with the corn and meatballs. The sausage sandwich was horrible. The customer service was worse. I regretted paying with my card and tipping in advance. With all the food ordered, there were no bags available. I requested the food be combined and put in a to-go container (which was available). The cashier stacked the trays and said, "You should be able to carry this." Half a slab of ribs, sausage sandwich, sides, and condiment cups all stacked in separate trays versus being put in one to-go container. 20 minutes standing in line to support this business and this is what I experienced. I will never support this business again or encourage others to support. $41 spent and majority of the food went in the trash. Disappointing.

RAN OUT OF FOOD!

Git-R-Smoked was not an enjoyable experience for us at all. He was very difficult to communicate with and was not responsive at all. We had an original quote for 150 then a month before our wedding my husband texted him saying it would be closer to 100 and he never got a response. The final count was 113 which was sent out to him a week prior to the wedding.

On the actual day he was not there and sent other people because he was working another wedding. We were completely missing a side of mashed potatoes. Around 90 people, people started to get smaller portions because the food was running out and some people only got salad. Then we were told they ran out of food. The employees were not helpful and were like deer in headlights. Thankfully our venue owners worked out a plan and personally bought food and brought it back to feed the rest of the people.

After the wedding, we did not get a call from him until we touched base with our vendor. He texted me and no so apologetic response offering to feed my family at ribcook off event happening months later. When I informed him that I this was not appropriate compensation I did not get any response. He texted my husband say he would not reimburse us for the guests for fed claiming he fed 100 people and treat was what he was quoted at. The reality was he didn’t bring enough food even for 100 people and he did not take accountability for it. He told my husband he would reimburse us for the missing mashed potatoes $100. When my husband sent the request it wasn’t till a week later when he ultimately declined the request.

So in the end we ran out of food, we got no refund, and no real apology. I would not recommend Git-R-Smoked to anyone.

It’s not about how many good weddings you’ve had, it’s about how you handle the one you mess up.

2024 Carson City Rib Cook off review.

I ordered a full rack, with Mac and cheese, corn bread, chopped pork and chopped brisket.

The ribs were perfectly smoked, enough hold to stay on the rib but pulled away at the slightest bite. Excellent smoke flavor that didn’t over power the flavor of the rib itself. The Mac and cheese was Smokey and cheesy, noodles were tender and large. The chopped pork and brisket were delicious with the same smoke to meat flavor ratio. GIT R Smoked wins and it shows why. 5/5, no mystery why they’re champions in the bbq world!!!
